Save Our Salmon
Join Bay Area celebrity and environmental storyteller Doug McConnell in his latest look animals that Aquarium of the Bay and its affiliate The Bay Institute are working to protect.Wild salmon—Chinook, coho, sockeye, chum, pink salmon and steelhead trout—once populated nearly every coastal river or stream from southern California to Alaska, migrating out to the Pacific Ocean and back again. They have made headlines in recent years for staggering population declines, primarily due to large-scale water diversions and misguided dam operations. In the San Francisco Bay watershed alone, nine of 10 of the largest tributary rivers are blocked by large storage dams, limiting access for salmon to spawn.
SalmonAID is presenting Salmon Month throughout September at Aquarium of the Bay. Visit www.aquariumofthebay.org or www.salmonaid.org for the full events lineup

City of the Shark
Sevengill sharks live and reproduce in San Francisco Bay, but little is known about their behavior and ecology. Since 2008, Aquarium of the Bay has worked with UC-Davis' Biotelemetry Lab to track, detect the movements and analyze sevengills in San Francisco Bay.In 2009, Aquarium of the Bay released "City of the Shark," a short documentary by David McGuire and SeaStewards Media, providing a close-up look at local species, with emphasis on the sevengill shark. Narrated by Mike Gibbons, the film takes you on board the Aquarium's research vessels and dives into the Aquarium's exhibits for an up close look at these enigmatic animals.

Military Pet Cemetery - San Francisco Presidio U. S. Army Base - Before Destruction
This is a 2006 video I shot when on my road bike. What is noteworthy of this video compared to the other ones I made is that this was BEFORE the state cut down the trees and cleared the area to use as a staging area for seismic retrofitting of the Doyle Drive causeway that leads to the Golden Gate Bridge.
