52nd San Francisco International Film Festival Trailer
From April 23 to May 7, the 52nd San Francisco International Film Festival returns with more than 100 unique programs of the finest independent, documentary and international cinema, playing host to more than 80,000 film-lovers, filmmakers, and industry professionals. The Festival will throw sensational parties such as the Midnight Awards with Evan Rachel Wood and Elijah Wood, honor film icons including Robert Redford and Francis Ford Coppola, and celebrate Bay Area film culture by opening with Peter and Benjamin Bratt’s La Mission followed by a lavish party at Bruno’s and El Capitan Theatre. On May 5, the genre-bending pop band Dengue Fever will perform the world premiere of their original score for the classic silent film The Lost World at the historic Castro Theatre. The Festival will close with Alexis Dos Santos’s striking film Unmade Beds, a tale of two solitary expats crossing paths in London’s cosmopolitan art-rock scene. Set in a storybook 1920s rural American South and inspired by the Japanese fairytale "Kaguyahime," Milford Thomas' Claire tells the story of a child-less,elderly male couple (Mish P. DeLight and James Ferguson)who discover a princess made of moonlight (Toniet Gallego) inside an ear of corn. The enchanting young Claire bewitches onlookers with her readings of fantastic poetry in unfamiliar languages, entrances a local boy and discovers her miraculous healing powers when he jumps from a cliff in an attempt to win her heart. While exemplifying the untraditional family (two men lovingly raising a moon-child), Claire celebrates the diversity of family and poignantly treats the grief of losing a loved one.
