Hundreds of filmmakers, journalists, film industry professionals, and more than 80,000 film-lovers, will be on hand for the most anticipated two weeks of film in the Bay Area. The Festival will celebrate international cinema, spotlight local film culture, showcase advances in film technology, educate Bay Area youth and throw spectacular, star-studded events. 52nd San Francisco International Film Festival Trailer
From April 23 to May 7, the 52nd San Francisco International Film Festival returns with more than 100 unique programs of the finest independent, documentary and international cinema, playing host to more than 80,000 film-lovers, filmmakers, and industry professionals. The Festival will throw sensational parties such as the Midnight Awards with Evan Rachel Wood and Elijah Wood, honor film icons including Robert Redford and Francis Ford Coppola, and celebrate Bay Area film culture by opening with Peter and Benjamin Bratt’s La Mission followed by a lavish party at Bruno’s and El Capitan Theatre. On May 5, the genre-bending pop band Dengue Fever will perform the world premiere of their original score for the classic silent film The Lost World at the historic Castro Theatre. The Festival will close with Alexis Dos Santos’s striking film Unmade Beds, a tale of two solitary expats crossing paths in London’s cosmopolitan art-rock scene.
